the final day...

...was spent driving ALL day. We left our hotel at 9am and arrived home a little after 10pm. We had planned to stay somewhere half-way but the girls were doing so good and we were just ready to get home, that we decided to just keep going. I think I mentioned it already, but I'll say it again. I so wish we had driven down there all in one day. At least we know for our next road trip, whenever that may be. I can say that I was better prepared for the drive home. I had all kinds of little "tricks" stashed away for when Kinsley got cranky. Aliyah was easy. As long as she had a movie, or some paper, or some books she was good. I even had a bubble gun on reserve =) When I pulled the bubble gun out, Aliyah was just as thrilled as Kinsley b/c she got to make the bubbles for Kinsley. Daddy wasn't so excited. His exact words were "bubbles IN the van? are you serious?" Yep, I am, anything to keep them quiet ;) There was a good layer of bubble film on everything but nothing that wouldn't just wipe off.

Shortly after the bubbles, BOTH girls fell asleep. Up to this point, Aliyah had not slept AT ALL while we were driving. She waited until we were about 4 hours from home. That position of hers just looks way uncomfortable to me.

They both slept until about 8:30 and I had just got done saying how nice it would be if they both slept the rest of the way home. Oh well, at least they were happy when they woke up. Kinsley started to get cranky about an hour away from home, but nothing a little Baby Einstein wouldn't fix.

We drove through a pretty wicked storm on the way home and I wish I had taken pictures of it. I didn't even think of it at the time. I was too worried about making it out of the storm alive. There were soooo many cars pulled off the side of the interstate but Brandon just kept on going....b/c apparently we have some wicked cool rain tires on our van. Who knew that rain tires would make such a difference? I had no idea.
All in all it was a great vacation. A little short for as much driving as we did but that's ok. I hope you weren't bored too much by all the vacay pics =)
