a birthday, a sick baby, and the worst mother of the year award

How's that for a title? All of those things have taken place in the last 24 hours. Actually in this order...a sick baby, a birthday, and worst-mother-of-the-year award.

Kinsley started running her very first fever yesterday evening. She was so whiny and just not feeling good last night. I finally got her to bed just before 9:00. I thought for sure she was going to wake up so I waited longer than usual to go to bed. Finally about midnight she had not woke up so I went to bed. About 15-20 minutes after going to bed, she decided to wake up. And she was awake until 4:30am screaming her poor little head off. She was in some kind of pain. I immediately thought teething but I don't see anything in her mouth that even remotely resembles a tooth coming through. Then I thought ear infection. Took her to the dr this morning and and everything checked out fine. Her ears, throat, and lungs are all clear. We got ordres to switch Tylenol and Motrin as long as the fever is present.

During the night, at about 3am I decided to try laying her in our bed to see if she would go to sleep. She just laid there whining, screaming, and completely restless. I finally decided to get up and get her some cold juice thinking that might make her feel a little better and maybe get her to sleep. We have a huge king size bed and she was laying right in the middle of it and Brandon was laying on the other side of her. I thought he was awake. While I was in the kitchen, I heard a loud thud and then screaming. Yeah, she rolled right off our bed....onto our hardwood floors and our bed is a good 3 feet high. I was scared and immediately started thinking the worst....concussion, broken bone, etc. Thank God she was ok. She does have a scratch on her cheek and bruises on her cheek and her knee that decided to show up just earlier tonight. Poor girl. I should have known better than to leave her on the bed. Just mail me the worst-mother-of-the-year award. Let me tell ya though, I will NOT ever leave her anywhere remotely high unsupervised.

Today was Brandon's birthday. Man, is he getting old ;) 28 seems so old, although I know it's really not. He had to work today so Aliyah and I made cupcakes for him to take to work. Then we baked a cake for him. His parents came over and brought us dinner tonight and then his brother, SIL, and nephew came over for cake. We just hung out and played some good 'ole Wii.

Aliyah made that card all by herself. I just had to tell her what letters to use and in which order, she did the rest.

She drew some pictures for him and put them inside the card. She's so crafty and very proud of her work. She is explaining to him who is who in her picture.

Brandon and I don't go all out for each other's birthdays. Mainly b/c his birthday, my birthday, Valentine's day, and Aliyah's bday are all in Feb. It's a pretty expensive month for us. We usually just get each other a few small things.

I went and got a cute frame for his office and put a picture of the girls in it.

We don't gamble but we do buy lottery tickets for Christmas and birthdays. He wasn't expecting them. Too bad he didn't win big though...he got a free ticket and $4 out of 5 tickets.

Miss Aliyah just had to help blow the candles out.
