I made a huge mistake last night before going to bed. I decided to check on Kinsley before I went to bed and when I did she was sleeping on her floor. I debated wether to leave her there or put her in her bed. I decided to put her in her bed and figured if she woke up, she'd go right back to sleep. Boy, was I WRONG!!! She woke up. This was 11:30 and at 2:00 she was still awake! She cried, I rocked her, I laid in her bed with her, she stared at me, said "momma" several times...but never went to sleep. I finally left her in there to cry it out and she learned how to open her door. Nothing stops this child. She is determined! I couldn't find a doorknob cover anywhere (although I know we have one somewhere) and I was beyond exhausted at this point. We finally put our really tall baby gate in front of her door and twisted a rubber band around the top of the gate to her door knob so she couldn't get her door opened. Sound mean? Maybe. But I don't want her having free reign of the house while we are sleeping, should she wake up and we not hear her. We went to Walmart today and invested in another door knob cover...which so far she has not figured out how to operate it...thank the Good Lord! However, she didn't nap today. She fell asleep in the van on the way home from Walmart and would NOT go back to sleep when we got home. She was in her room for an hour and a half before I finally just let her get up. Don't worry, she wasn't crying during that time, we could hear her playing and talking to herself every once in a while. Thank goodness she went right to sleep when I put her to bed tonight. I'm going to check on her tonight before I go to bed, but I can guarantee that I won't be moving her....no matter where she is sleeping. As long as she IS sleeping...
